Dutch Elm

Dutch Elm sample image
(representative sample)

Dutch Elm is a wood variety that historically has often been used in chairs, coffins, and cabinets. It is a tough wood, and challenging to use if the grain is irregular.

It is a coarse-textured wood of a medium brown color. In combination with polish or wax, it can be brought to an excellent finish.

In addition, Dutch Elm can be a source of beautiful burls. Small Dutch Elm blanks create great knife handles.
